In 1950, in Omegna on Lake Orta, Piero
Fornara and Fernando Maulini founded the company named
after them, Fornara & Maulini, dedicated to the
production of metal components for the bathroom. The
company developed and, at the end of the decade, the
factory was moved for the first time, to Casale Corte
Cerro. Then, at the start of the 1970s, increasing
industrialisation led to a second move, this time to the
present site in Gravellona Toce along with the
transformation into a joint-stock company. Since then,
there have been more than twenty years of progressive
development, in which the entrepeneurial spirit of the
founders has led to experimentation with materials and
formal innovation that has often anticipated market
trends. In this way, a cultural background and a style
of work has emerged, driving Fornara & Maulini towards
design: at the end of the 1980s, this tendency became
more accentuated and has now become the very spirit of
the company. Working with the presupposition of design
is not easy, even though it is certainly fascinating. It
requires tradition, know-how and entrepeneurial
will-power that the present managerial team, based on a
new combination of elements, put into practice with
determination. The sense of tradition and continuity
that the founders' successors represent, has been
integrated with new capital input from the
investor-managers who have now made the interest in
design more marked and decisive. So much so that the
blend of quality and design expressed in "The
state-of-the-art shower" has become the marketing claim
of the company. Imagination, beauty and quality are the
strong points for facing the new global market and for
responding to the demands of consumers who are
increasingly able to appreciate good taste and quality.
